I have been living in Bordeaux for about 6 years. This city has become a home to me, and over the years I’ve come to appreciate all that it has to offer. It is true that it is a small city but I can assure you that this small gem has lots of beautiful attractions that will make your stay an amazing one.
In my work as a tour guide, I have often encountered travelers who were in Bordeaux for a short time and needed a perfect one day in Bordeaux Itinerary to make the most out of it!
So what can you do and see in Bordeaux in one day? How to spend one day in Bordeaux?
Take a Stroll in the Historical Center of Bordeaux
I have always said it and I continue to repeat it: Walking in the streets of Bordeaux is one of the most beautiful experiences you can have. So while preparing your perfect one day in Bordeaux itinerary, make sure to include a 2 hours walk around the center of the city.
It could be a walk by yourself enjoying the marvels of the buildings or you can also participate in a guided tour to understand more about the history of those amazing landmarks you are looking at.
Every street of Bordeaux has a story to tell, so enjoy the walk but also the vibe and the ambiance all around you.
Have a coffee or a drink in one of the squares
While strolling in the beautiful center of Bordeaux, take the time to sit down and look around you.
There are many beautiful squares in Bordeaux filled with charming cafés. You can enjoy brunch, breakfast, or just a coffee surrounded by Bordeaux’s beautiful vibes!
One Day in Bordeaux Itinerary must visit: The Water Mirror
Every city in the world has this special place that people are always looking forward to visiting. In Bordeaux, this place is the Water Mirror or ‘Le Miroir d’eau de Bordeaux’.
It is said to be the most Instagrammable place in the city. Thousands of travelers visit the water mirror to admire the beautiful reflection it creates and also snap amazing pictures for social media accounts.
My favorite time to visit the water mirror in Bordeaux is during sunset or at night where the reflection can be really magical.
The water mirror combining the beauty of the Quais and also the Place de la Bourse is a must-visit on your one day in Bordeaux itinerary!
Taste the local delicacies: Cannelé and Dunes Blanches
Enjoy the Canelés of bordeaux
Perhaps you already tasted the Macarons in Bordeaux? well now it’s time to taste the Canelés of Bordeaux! They are the traditional dessert of the city. Made out of eggs, flower, milk, and bit of rhum, these small cakes must be part of your one day in Bordeaux itinerary.
Taste the delicious Dunes Blanches
In my opinion, they are one of the unmissable desserts to taste while in Bordeaux. Even though Bordelais do not always recognize them as the typical dessert of the city. It would be a pity not to try these amazing delicacies.
To resume, they are ‘chouquettes’ filled with whipped cream! They are an iconic dessert of the region that is a must-try.
Enjoy a drink with a view on one of Bordeaux’s unique rooftops!
